Isolated severe thunderstorm gusts and large hail remain possible across portions of the southern High Plains this evening. ....01z Update... Early-evening satellite imagery suggests southern-stream short-wave trough has advanced into central OK, extending southwest into west TX. The majority of deep convection, with lightning, is occurring behind the trough within northwesterly flow where strong surface heating contributed to steep lapse rate environment. 00z sounding from MAF exhibited minimal inhibition with MLCAPE around 1000 J/kg. Additionally, while deep-layer shear is not particularly strong, profiles favor storm organization. Latest radar supports this with a few supercells lingering across the TX South Plains. Some of this activity has produced hail around 1 inch along with a few severe wind gusts. Isolated supercells should propagate southeast this evening with an attendant risk for some hail/gusty winds. ...Darrow.. 04/10/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
