Severe thunderstorms are not expected. ....Discussion... A weakening upper low will drift southeastward across central California tonight, while broader cyclonic flow expands gradually, covering much of the West through the end of the period. Widespread rainfall continues, in conjunction with this system, along with embedded/isolated lightning flashes. Some potential for lightning will continue, locally, across a broad area, through the overnight hours. Meanwhile farther east, a few lightning flashes have occurred over Arkansas. Some expansion in elevated convection is expected overnight, to include parts of eastern Kansas and Missouri, in conjunction with a diurnal, southerly low-level jet increase.
