Severe thunderstorms are not expected on Tuesday. ....Southern California... An upper trough is expected to spread east-southeastward over California toward the Great Basin and Southwest deserts on Tuesday, with a substantially strengthening low-latitude polar jet over the International border vicinity. As mid-level lapse rates steepen, low-level moisture and overall buoyancy will be sufficient for isolated thunderstorms, particularly for coastal areas. While organized severe thunderstorms are not currently expected, some small hail and/or thunderstorm-related gusty winds are plausible. ....Central Plains/Midwest... A few/very isolated elevated thunderstorms could occur early Tuesday and/or persist eastward into/across Missouri during the day, attributable to warm/moist advection focused at the terminus of the low-level jet. A secondary round of storms could develop under a somewhat similar regime Tuesday night. Severe thunderstorms currently appear unlikely, owing to weak elevated buoyancy. ...Guyer.. 03/19/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
