Severe thunderstorms are not forecast today or tonight. ....Discussion... The prominent Eastern States upper trough will move off the Atlantic Coast by tonight. A post-frontal environment and strong surface anticyclone will prevail east of the Rockies. Some lingering thunderstorm potential should be relegated to near-frontal areas of the far southern Florida Peninsula and Florida Keys. Weak convection may also develop near the stalled front across extreme Deep South Texas. Occasional lightning flashes may also be noted today across north Texas related to weak elevated buoyancy in proximity of a passing shortwave trough. In the West, associated with a modestly amplifying shortwave trough and jet streak, isolated thunderstorms may develop across areas such as the California interior Valley, and perhaps on a very isolated basis across parts of the Great Basin/Intermountain West this evening and overnight. Severe thunderstorms are unlikely. ...Guyer/Broyles.. 03/14/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
