Periods of reduced visibility may accompany the heavier bands, promoting potentially hazardous travel conditions. DISCUSSION...A band of moderate to heavy snow continues to intensify across central IA while progressing east-northeast toward the Great Lakes region. The approach of a 500 mb trough, overspread by the right-front quadrant of a 100+ kt 300 mb jet streak, is prompting a low-level mass response in the form of modest 925-700 mb warm-air advection. This warm-air advection is resulting in both increased lift and moisture within sub-freezing lower-tropospheric profiles. Though 14Z mesoanalysis does not show a widespread saturated -14 to -17C dendritic growth zone, the moisture advection ahead of the ongoing snow band, along with the deep-layer, synoptic-scale ascent, may still support occasional periods of 1 inch/hr snowfall rates. It is unclear how far east these rates will persist into the afternoon, given mixed signals from high-resolution guidance. Nonetheless, current regional/MRMS radar imagery and available webcams in the vicinity of I-35 and I-80 suggest that heavy snow is in progress (with associated hazardous travel conditions) and these conditions should continue for at least the next few hours. ...Squitieri.. 03/09/2023 ....Please see https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.spc.noaa.gov__;!!DZ3fj= g!9bccpdbX4xwABe07nO-ub7k5Cq3C45X_ZyJJj5DY56AdOG_L6Xznc_-4cYMDhxYozhp9Lp6xu= uWNni4hLCo6a-pGy3Q$ for graphic product...
