Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible today across parts of the western U.S. and in north-central Florida, but no severe threat is expected. ....DISCUSSION... Zonal flow will develop today across parts of the southern tier of the U.S. as several shortwave troughs move across the northern states. At the surface, a moist airmass will be in place across Florida where isolated thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon. Thunderstorms will also be possible from the West Coast eastward into the parts of the Intermountain West. This will be partly due to steep mid-level lapse rates and large-scale ascent ahead of the trough moving into California. In spite of the two thunder areas, instability should be too limited for a severe threat across the U.S. today and tonight. ...Broyles/Bentley.. 03/04/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
