Isolated strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible near the California coast late tonight and early Tuesday morning. ....California Coast... An arc of convection with substantial lightning activity is ongoing early this evening over the eastern Pacific, in conjunction with a powerful mid/upper-level shortwave trough that will approach central/northern CA overnight into Tuesday morning. This band of convection is likely to reach portions of the CA coast between 09-12Z. While instability will be meager, strong deep-layer wind fields will support the potential for isolated strong/damaging gusts and perhaps a brief tornado as this convective band moves onshore. At this time, the greatest threat is still expected near the coast, where low-level moisture and instability will be slightly more favorable compared to farther inland. ...Dean.. 01/10/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
