Thunderstorms are not forecast today. ....Synopsis... Low heights will remain over the Northeast as the main waves ejects across New England and a secondary wave moves across the upper MS Valley and Great Lakes. To the west, a shortwave trough will proceed eastward across the Four Corners states and into the central Plains by 12Z Saturday, while another trough skirts the coastal Pacific Northwest. At the surface, high pressure will remain over much of the East, resulting in offshore winds across the eastern Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Coast. However, low-level moisture return will occur over the southern Plains as a surface low develops from the TX Panhandle across OK. Despite 60s F dewpoints spreading north across TX late Friday into Friday night, forecast soundings reveal a capped air mass. As such, storms are not expected with this system. Elsewhere, little if any instability is forecast over western WA and OR despite cooling aloft, as a band of precipitation affects the area late in the day. ...Jewell.. 01/06/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
