The heavier bands will gradually develop northeastward across southeastern South Dakota and southern Minnesota this morning. DISCUSSION...Latest mosaic radar over the central and northern Plains, shows a large area of precipitation from parts of west-central Nebraska extending east-northeastward across northern Nebraska into southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa. Surface temperatures are generally below freezing across Nebraska, where most of the precipitation is in the form of snow. At upper levels, a low is located over southern Nebraska with strong divergence present from northeastern Nebraska into southern Minnesota. This, combined with strong low-level convergence, will signal an area of enhanced lift along and to the northwest of the upper low track. As a result, isentropic lift will become maximized over the next few hours and snowfall rates could exceed one inch per hour. A few lightning strikes will be possible within the heavier bands. As the upper-level low moves northeastward, heavy snow will develop northeastward from parts of northeast Nebraska into southeastern South Dakota and southern Minnesota early this morning. ...Broyles/Edwards.. 01/03/2023 ....Please see https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.spc.noaa.gov__;!!DZ3fj= g!8jFVIO7jW2KXhtAoIZ2a4zuPAMXmMb2C0_ezEcJzDOcGKZHESZt9lR6DOztj0I2ahzGcwcsOB= vhPCfB_cjQaVsaazEA$ for graphic product...
