Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday across portions of the Southeast and Carolinas. ....Southeast to the Mid-Atlantic... An closed mid/upper low and attendant trough over central portions of the U.S. will slowly shift east on Wednesday. Strong deep-layer southwesterly flow will continue over the Southeast and northward along the Eastern Seaboard. At the surface, a weak low will track east/northeast across the Midwest and lower Great Lakes vicinity. A trailing cold front also will shift east through the period, from the Ohio Valley and Deep South to the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast coast/northern FL. Warm advection on southerly low-level flow will transport 60s surface dewpoints northward across GA/SC/NC and southeast VA. Widespread cloud cover and areas of ongoing precipitation will limit destabilization, leading to only weak instability ahead of the surface front. Higher instability will extend across the FL Panhandle into GA and diminish with northward extent across the eastern Carolinas. Nevertheless, strong deep-layer flow will support moderate effective shear, leading to at least transient organized convection. Isolated strong to severe storms capable of damaging gusts, and perhaps a couple of tornadoes, will be possible through Wednesday afternoon/early evening. ...Leitman.. 01/02/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
