Thunderstorms will be possible in the Four Corners and in the Sabine River Valley today into tonight. No severe threat is expected across the continental U.S. through tonight. ....DISCUSSION... An upper-level ridge will move eastward across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley today as an upper-level trough moves across the western U.S. Mid-level southwest flow will enable moisture return across the Texas and Louisiana Coastal Plain. Although instability will remain weak in this area, elevated thunderstorms could develop in the Sabine River Valley as low-level flow strengthens during the evening and overnight period. Out west, a few thunderstorms could develop ahead of an upper-level trough in the Four Corners region. This will be due to strong large-scale ascent, mid-level moisture and steep lapse rates. In spite of the potential for thunderstorms in these two areas, a severe threat is not expected today or tonight. ...Broyles/Thornton.. 12/28/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
