Isolated thunderstorms may occur across parts of northern California and southwest Oregon tonight. ....DISCUSSION... An upper-level trough will move eastward into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys tonight. In the wake of the trough, mid-level flow will be northwesterly in the Great Plains. In response, high pressure will move southward into the Southern Plains. This will reinforce northerly flow in the western Gulf Coast states, suppressing moisture return. In the West, an upper-level trough will approach the coast. Ahead of the system, strong large-scale ascent will move inland tonight. This could support isolated thunderstorm development in northern California and southwest Oregon. However, instability will be very weak and a severe threat is not expected. Elsewhere across the continental United States, thunderstorms are not forecast to develop through tonight. ...Broyles.. 12/27/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
