....SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms are not expected across the continental U.S. this
evening or tonight.

....DISCUSSION...
The upper-level pattern across the U.S. features an upper-level
ridge in the west, with southwest flow in the Rockies and Great
Plains. A shortwave trough embedded in the flow is moving
southeastward across the central Plains. A surface low, associated
with this shortwave trough, will move southeastward into the mid
Mississippi Valley tonight as surface high pressure dives southward
into the northern Plains. A secondary area of high pressure is
located in the Southeast, which is preventing moisture return from
the Gulf of Mexico. For this reason, no thunderstorms are expected
across the continental United States this evening or tonight.
