Thunderstorms will be possible today across parts of New England and south Florida, but no severe weather is expected. ....DISCUSSION... An upper-level trough will move eastward across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys today, as an associated 100 to 135 knot mid-level jet noses into the western Carolinas. At the surface, a cold front will advance eastward through the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Ahead of the front, surface dewpoints will be in the 60s F across parts of the central and southern Florida Peninsula. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible in south Florida as the cold front approaches around midday. Thunderstorms will also be possible in coastal sections of New England today near a low-level jet and ahead of a band of strong large-scale ascent. No severe threat is expected in New England or south Florida.
