Thunderstorms are expected to develop on Monday in parts of south-central and east Texas, with storms moving eastward to the central Gulf coast by Monday night. No severe threat is expected. ....DISCUSSION... An upper-level ridge will approach the East Coast on Monday, as a shortwave trough moves through the Great Plains. Ahead of the trough, flow at mid-levels will be from the west-southwest across much of the Gulf Coast region. A low-level jet is forecast to move onshore into southeast Texas around daybreak on Monday. Elevated thunderstorm development is expected near the low-level jet during the day in parts of east Texas and Louisiana. As this feature moves eastward, thunderstorm potential will increase in the lower Mississippi Valley and central Gulf Coast from the evening into the overnight. Surface dewpoints are forecast to remain below 60 F in most areas along the Gulf coast, suggesting that instability will remain weak on Monday and Monday night. For this reason, a severe threat is not expected to develop. ...Broyles.. 12/17/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
