Severe thunderstorms are not expected through early Saturday. ....Synopsis... Within a progressive/zonal flow regime aloft, one shortwave trough will move eastward today from the middle MS Valley to the OH Valley and Appalachians, while gradually losing amplitude. South of the midlevel trough path, isolated thunderstorms will be possible this morning along a stalled front from southeast AR into northern MS/AL, prior to the threat diminishing by midday. An upstream shortwave trough now moving over the northern Great Basin will continue eastward to the central Plains overnight. Farther south, separate speed maxima will eject east-northeastward from southern AZ/NM toward the southern High Plains. In response to strengthening southerly low-level flow and warm advection, the threat for elevated thunderstorms will increase tonight across OK. Farther west, an amplifying midlevel trough will approach the Pacific coast early Saturday. Some weak elevated convection is expected within the primary frontal precipitation band, but near-surface destabilization will be limited inland until near 12z. ...Thompson/Leitman.. 12/09/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
