Severe thunderstorms are not expected through tonight. ....01z Update... Low-amplitude, weak short-wave trough is ejecting east across the Mid-South region early this evening. Low-level warm advection ahead of this feature is contributing to a broad shield of precipitation from the northern Gulf States into the southern Appalachian region. While lightning has been sparse with this convection, sufficient elevated buoyancy will likely be present through sunrise to support a few flashes of lightning within the stronger updrafts. Scattered low-topped showers continue across northern CA north of a pronounced mid-level jet.
