A few lightning flashes may be noted with convection, primarily over northern California, tonight. ....01z Update... Mid-level jet will sag southeast across northern CA tonight as upper trough approaches the northern CA coast by the end of the period. Cooling profiles, and steep lapse rates have aided weak buoyancy north of the jet. 00z sounding from OAK exhibited weak instability in the surface-3km layer, but OAK remains decidedly south of the primary jet at this time. Mid-level lapse rates are likely steeper just north of this region where a few flashes of lightning have been noted at times with the more robust convection, especially off the northern CA Coast and farther inland over southern Tehama County. Isolated thunder threat continues across this region. ...Darrow.. 12/05/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
