Concerning...Snow Squall=20

SUMMARY...A snow squall appears to be materializing west of
Interstate 25 in southeast Wyoming, which may progress eastward in
the next 1-2 hours. Rapidly reduced visibility, gusty winds, and
flash freezing is possible.

DISCUSSION...MRMS mosaic and regional radar imagery depict an
eastward-progressing band of snow, with up to 35 dBZ reflectivity
values recently noted along with recent reports of at least moderate
snow fall and gusts around 40-60 kts. Recent webcams on I-80 west of
Laramie, WY have also shown whiteout conditions associated with this
band of snow. Latest visible satellite imagery shows a pronounced
line of potentially cumuliform clouds embedded in lower-stratus,
indicative of low-topped convection and supporting evidence for snow
squall in progress. Low-level lapse rates preceding this snow squall
are not particularly steep, raising questions of how long-lived this
event will be. Nonetheless, at least an hour or two of combined
rapidly reduced visibility and gusty westerly winds may accompany
the snow squall for the next 1-2 hours, including when the squall
passes over Interstate 25.
