Excessive Rainfall Discussion

The probability of excessive rainfall is less than 5 percent.

In coordination with the LOX/Los Angeles, CA forecast office, the
previous Marginal Risk for the Transverse Ranges northwest of L.A.
was removed with this forecast update. The rainfall that occurred
overnight was not heavy enough to raise area river gauge levels
much, and there were no reports of flash flooding. There will be
at least a 12 hour period starting shortly (as of the time of this
writing) when the rainfall into the coastal mountains will either
stop altogether or diminish to very light rates. This will allow
the rainfall presently ongoing to drain off during the day today.
The rain will resume with a reinforcing disturbance after sunset
tonight. However, it is not expected to become heavy enough such
that any flash flooding will occur until after the 12Z transition
into Day 2. Thus, the flood threat for tonight is highlighted more
in the Day 2 period.
