....THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS EASTERN
PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST...AND IN THE SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL
APPALACHIANS...

....SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms associated with marginally severe wind gusts will be
possible on Wednesday from eastern parts of the Appalachian
Mountains south-southwestward into parts of the Southeast.

....Southern and Central Appalachians/Eastern Gulf Coast States...
A progressive upper-level trough will move eastward from the
Mississippi Valley into the central Appalachians on Wednesday. An
associated cold front will advance eastward into the southern and
central Appalachians. Ahead of the front, surface dewpoints will
range from the 60s F in the eastern Gulf Coast states to near 50 F
in parts of the central Appalachians. Instability ahead of the front
will remain weak in most areas during the day as cloud cover and
scattered storms keep temperatures down. Storms that do develop will
have access to strong deep-layer shear and enhanced large-scale
ascent. This could be enough for a marginal severe threat, with
damaging winds possible in the stronger multicell line segments.
Although instability will be greater in the Southeast and in the
southern Appalachians, deep-layer shear in those areas will be less
farther north.  For that reason, it is hard to pinpoint an area with
a localized greater severe threat. The current thinking is that a
marginal wind-damage threat will peak in the early to mid afternoon,
before gradually decreasing during the late afternoon and early
evening.
