A few strong storms remain possible tonight, primarily across southern Louisiana. ....01z Update... Low-latitude short-wave trough is ejecting across south TX early this evening. An expansive shield of precipitation with embedded convection is noted ahead of this feature over the lower MS Valley. Strongest storms extend across coastal southwest LA into the northwest Gulf Basin, just off the upper TX coast. 00z sounding from LIX exhibited ample MUCAPE for lightning with elevated convection. However, most buoyant air mass has struggled to advance inland and there is little reason to believe significant destabilization will occur ahead of the short wave.
