Thunderstorms will be possible today from the southern Plains into the Arklatex and Ozarks. No severe threat is expected. ....DISCUSSION... The upper-level pattern across the continental United States today has a trough near the coast of New England, with another deepening system in the Four Corners region. This trough will become more amplified as it approaches the southern and central Rockies late this afternoon. Ahead of the trough, southwest flow will enable southerly flow to strengthen from the southern Plains into the lower Missouri Valley. Elevated thunderstorm development will be possible this afternoon and evening along and near the axis of a 40 to 50 knot low-level jet, oriented north-northeastward across central Texas and east-central Oklahoma. Instability along this corridor will remain weak, suggesting a severe threat will be unlikely today. Elsewhere across the continental United States, thunderstorms are not expected today or tonight. ...Broyles/Squitieri.. 11/23/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
