Isolated thunderstorms will be possible today in parts of Florida and in the Pacific Northwest. No severe threat is expected today or tonight across the continental United States. ....DISCUSSION... Several shortwave troughs will move across the continental United States today. The first will move eastward into the western Great Lakes. A second will move through the Gulf Coast region but will become less defined with time. A third will move into the Pacific Northwest. Ahead of this trough, strong large-scale ascent and mid-level moisture may be sufficient for isolated thunderstorms. In the southeastern U.S., a moist airmass will be located across the central and southern Florida Peninsula. As destabilization occurs today, isolated thunderstorm development may take place, mainly from the east coast of Florida southward into the Florida Keys.
