Isolated thunderstorms will be possible today across parts of south-central Texas and south Florida. Isolated lightning strikes may occur in the vicinity of Lake Ontario. ....DISCUSSION... A large-scale cyclonic flow pattern will be in place today across much of the central and eastern U.S. An upper-level trough will dig southeastward into the mid to upper Mississippi Valley. At the surface, a dome of high pressure will settle into the Great Plains. The cool and dry airmass along with northerly flow will impede moisture return across the continental United States. This will make conditions unfavorable for thunderstorm development in most areas. A few exceptions will exist. The first will be in south-central Texas, where warm advection may be enough for an isolated storm or two. The second will be in south Florida, where isolated storms could develop in a moist airmass. The third will be in the vicinity of Lake Ontario in association with lake-effect snowbands. Elsewhere across the continental United States, thunderstorms are not expected. ...Broyles/Squitieri.. 11/20/2022 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
