Isolated lightning strikes will be possible tonight in parts of the lower Great Lakes, in associated with lake-effect snowbands. Elsewhere, organized thunderstorms are not expected across the continental United States through tonight. ....DISCUSSION... A large troughing pattern will be in place tonight across the eastern two thirds of the nation. An upper-level trough will move eastward across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley tonight. At the surface, high pressure will dominate across much of the U.S., keeping cool and dry conditions in place. The only exceptions will be in far south Florida and in the lower Great Lakes.
