The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 566 continues.

SUMMARY...A tornado threat will continue along the coasts of Georgia
and South Carolina. Tornado watch 566 has been extended northward to
cover more of the coastal areas of South Carolina. A new tornado
watch will be needed as the tornado watch expires at 00Z from parts
of eastern South Carolina into far southern North Carolina.

DISCUSSION...Tropical storm Nicole is currently located about 65
miles to the south-southwest of Tallahassee, Florida. An inner
rainband is currently located around the center of Nicole, with an
outer rainband extending from the western Atlantic northwestward
into southeast and south-central Georgia. The WSR-88D VWP in
Charleston, South Carolina has strong speed shear in the lowest
kilometer with ample directional shear located in the lowest 3
kilometers. This was creating 0-1 km shear near 45 knots, which will
be conducive for rotating storms and possibly tornadoes. The tornado
threat is expected to remain isolated and confined to the coastal
areas easter South Carolina and southern North Carolina, where
instability is greater and frictional effects will be more
favorable.
