Severe thunderstorms are unlikely across the continental U.S.
through tonight.

....DISCUSSION...
The flow pattern across the United States this evening has an
upper-level ridge located in the north-central states with zonal
flow over much of the Northeast. Mid-level flow is southwesterly
from the Desert Southwest northeastward into the northern and
central Plains. An upper-level low is in the far eastern Pacific,
moving eastward toward the West Coast. At the surface, a large area
of high pressure is dominate over the eastern half of the nation. A
couple surface lows are present in the west, with one in the Desert
Southwest and another in the northern Rockies. A belt of strong
southerly low-level flow is located across the Great Plains.

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible this evening into tonight at
the southern end of the belt of strong flow from southwest Texas
northward into Oklahoma. Although surface dewpoints are in the 60s F
in much of the southern Plains, instability will be insufficient for
a severe threat. Isolated thunderstorm development will also be
possible near the delta of the Mississippi River, and across parts
of the Intermountain West. A few thunderstorms could also occur from
western Oregon southward into central and northern California as
large-scale ascent moves further inland ahead of the approaching
upper-level low. No severe threat is anticipated across the
continental United States through tonight.
