Subj : UTF-8 nodelist report To : Nicholas Boel From : Kees van Eeten Date : Fri Sep 16 2016 22:08:14 Hello Nicholas! 16 Sep 16 13:25, you wrote to me: KE>> The real solution would be, that ZC's would generate a UTF-8 zone KE>> segment if sysops in their zone benefit from the use of UTF-8. The RC's can submit UTF-8 versions of their segment to ZC2 and the Z2/DAILYUTF is published by ZC2 in the same way the Z2/DAILYLIST is published. It is available by filerequest, FTP, TIC and possibly TIC-less distibution. Making a derivative of the official Nodelist still requires cooperation of some *C here or there, or there will always be a lag in changes. I have been told that there has been a proposal to create a file echo where every *C would submit his/her segments and have every body generate his/her own full nodelist. That proposal was rejected, but who knows times may have changed. Don't think I have something against the DAILYUTF, I have produced the file during the abcense of ZC2 this summer. But in this role I adhere to the "ethics" of the official Nodelist. Kees --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5 * Origin: As for me, all I know is that, I know nothing. (2:280/5003.4) .
