In the new Trekverse they mention a transporter accident with Admiral
Archer's pet beagle being why Montgomery Scott and the teddy bear was
stationed on the far away outpost.

Therefore in the New Trekverse one can speculate that the "Enterprise" is
canon for that storyline.
