Abrams era? > Logically speaking, novels aren't canon but anything filmed officially by Paramount is. So, TOS, TAS (yes), TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, All Movies are canon. Internet episodes and novels, stories, etc. aren't. Although anything written in novels and seen in internet episodes which do not contradict what is shown in official productions may be considered 'real' until they are contradicted by films etc. Of course there are anal fans (aka fanatics) which think TAS isn't canon, etc. Odd that a series which uses logic has fans that have no knowledge of the concept. Who really cares? It's all fiction. There will always be contradictions.
