Not too surprising that he got > the directing gig. They may be "fun space romps", they may even be "good" films in their own right, but those are just personal opinions on the quality, which is irrelevant. The actual fact is that they're marketed as "Star Trek" and are not really part of that franchise at all, despite the silly "parallel universe" nonsense excuse to try and make what is simply an obvious reboot stupidly "fit" with what came before. They tried the same silliness with the mess called "Enterprise" and in the end had to resort to just making the whole thing a "dream" in the holodeck. :-\ If they want to make a new "space romp" franchise, then make a NEW "space romp" franchise. Don't go butchering an old franchise and moronically pretending you haven't by stupidly reusing the same name for a very different product. Next time you open you jar of Strawberry Jam, don't be surprised to find that what's inside is really Ketchcup ... hey, they both red and liquidy, and even taste good when used in the right way ... but they are not the same product, despite the label still saying "Strawberry Jam". :-\ --- Synchronet 3.15a-Linux NewsLink 1.92-mlp * Origin: Aioe.org NNTP Server (1:2320/105.97) --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux * Origin: telnet & http://cco.ath.cx - Dial-Up: 502-875-8938 (1:2320/105.1) .
