Subj : Star Trek Beyond To : Andrew Haworth From : Eric Oulashin Date : Thu Nov 16 2023 00:00:53 AH> Not exactly a glowing review, but probably better than what the film AH> actually deserves. I don't know how any real Star Trek fan can tolerate AH> these new films. It's like they've turned Star Trek into something more AH> akin to Transformers - loud, cliched actionfests for a teen audience who AH> can't pull themselves away from Pokemon Go. I don't really blame Star AH> Trek. It's Hollywood. I prefer classic Star Trek myself, but I think even the older Star Trek movies tended to be more action-oriented and a less cerebral than the TV shows. For instance, a couple of the most popular Trek movies were The Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home - IMO both a bit more action-oriented and less cerebral than the TV show. I suppose you could make a case that Star Trek 6 (The Undiscovered Country), which was probably one of the more popular Trek movies, was a bit more cerebral.. I suppose I agree with you, it's more Hollywood than Star Trek. I don't know why they went back and started over with Kirk and his crew though.. I would have rather seen some more Star Trek continuing in the Next Generation era. Even something between the original series and Next Generation would have been interesting. We have only seen the Enterprise B and Enterprise C once each on screen. Eric --- SBBSecho 2.32-Win32 * Origin: Digital Distortion: digdist.synchro.net (1:340/7) .
