Well, "visually" doesn't matter.  The effects guys do what they want to
do and then the writers have to come up with some drivel that fans will
hopefully buy.  I'd respect it more if I knew the writers came up with
this and then got the effects guys to re-do the Klingons to fit their
story, but we all know that's not how it went down.

Someone thought the Klingons were too boring and needed to be more "scary
and edgy"... and the writers had to figure out a way to explain it so
people wouldn't complain and refuse to watch it.
