My Jamnntpd seems to show the date in GMT, SmapiNNTPd fails because there is no TZ information in the msg.

 Smapinntpd:  Date: Tue, 21 Nov 2023 24:50:36
 Jamnntpd:    Date: Tue, 21 Nov 2023 20:50:36 GMT

Thunderbird has no problem showing the invalid time. :D
