You can actually run *both*, like I do. So long as the Linux-sbbs instance and the Windows-sbbs instances have access to the same sbbs directory tree, they can live together harmoneously, serving a different set of nodes each (that the purpose of the FirstNode/LastNode values in your sbbs.ini file). I actually run 3 instances of sbbs: Win7-32 on bbs.synchronet, Win10-64 on vert.synchro.net and Debian-Linux-64 on cvs.synchro.net. If you want to know more about how to do that, just ask.
