Just a reply to my reply (lol) in case anyone else is trying to figure this out
down the line, from the synchronet wiki on text.dat:

"For security reasons, text.dat lines that contain %-specifiers may not also
include @-codes."

So, method of placement would not work via text.dat, as those contain
specifiers...
