Subj : HIP SURGERY To : ALL From : Daryl Stout Date : Thu Aug 23 2018 09:11:00 Unfortunately, I have impending surgery on my left hip. I've heard that it's less difficult afterwards than knee surgery...but I've also heard that like with all surgeries, there's a chance of failure...but the worst thing is the downtime...no driving or heavy lifting for 3 weeks to 6 months...and for me, that's way too long. The thing is, while I am using a walker wherever I go now, I have to have it eventually, or my hip is likely to fail. But, being caregiver for my elderly Mom, she has no one to fall back on if I go down (no pun intended), and I have no one to take care of me. If anyone in here has had experience with hip surgery, or knows of those who have, your comments would be appreciated. I saw my PCP yesterday, and will see my orthopedic doctor on Monday. I would like to delay it until November, if possible, though.
