Subj : BH&G 2585 To : All From : Dave Drum Date : Sun May 02 2021 11:10:00 MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Caramel Apple Baked French Toast Categories: Breads, Dairy, Fruits, Citrus Yield: 12 Servings Cooking spray 2 (9 oz ea) loaves whole grain - baguette-style French - bread 1 lg Red-skin cooking apple; - cored, chopped 1 tb Lemon juice 4 lg Eggs; lightly beaten 1 c Milk 1/2 c Caramel ice cream topping 1 ts Vanilla 1/2 ts Ground cinnamon 1/4 ts Ground ginger 1/8 ts Ground nutmeg Set oven @ 350ºF/175ºC. Coat a 2 quart rectangular baking dish with cooking spray. Trim ends off baguettes and discard. Cut remaining baguettes crosswise into 1/2" slices. Arrange bread slices on edge in the prepared baking dish. Top bread with apple. Brush apple with lemon juice. In a medium bowl whisk together eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons of the ice cream topping, the vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Slowly pour egg mixture over bread slices, making sure to pour in between each. Bake, uncovered, for 35 to 40 minutes or until top is golden brown, apple is tender, and mixture is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with remaining ice cream topping. TO MAKE AHEAD: Prepare as directed through Step 2. Cover and chill for 2 to 24 hours. Bake as directed.
