Subj : BH&G 1756 To : ALL From : DAVE DRUM Date : Mon Feb 08 2021 16:24:00 MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Jalapeno Steak 'n' Mushrooms Categories: Beef, Chilies, Herbs, Mushrooms Yield: 6 Servings 2 1/2 lb Boneless chuck steak; 1" - thick 1/4 c Packed brown sugar 1/4 c Soy sauce 1/4 c Worcestershire sauce 3 Fresh jalapenos; thin - sliced 2 tb Red wine vinegar 1 tb Quick-cooking tapioca; - crushed 4 cl Garlic; thin sliced 1 c Snipped fresh cilantro 2 (4" dia) portobello - mushrooms; stemmed, gills - removed, in 1/2" slices 1 md Onion; thin sliced Fresh cilantro; chopped - (opt) Hot cooked polenta (opt) +=OR=+ Mashed potatoes (opt) +=OR=+ Mashed sweet potatoes (opt) Trim fat from meat. Cut meat into six serving-size pieces. Place pieces in a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker. In a medium bowl combine brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, jalapeno peppers, vinegar, tapioca, and garlic. Stir in cilantro. Pour mixture over meat in cooker. Top with mushrooms and onion. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 9 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4-1/2 to 5 hours or until steaks are tender. If desired, sprinkle with cilantro just before serving. If desired, serve with hot cooked polenta.
