But that only works if the rest of the class knows who did it.  And that's not
usually the case.

Every other teacher I had punished the problem kid for doing wrong, not the
whole class for what one problem kid did.

I thought about becoming a teacher at one point.  But my dad was still living
at the time and had 40+ years in teaching school.  I heard all the stories
about what went on and it only got worse before he retired.  So I passed on
that.
