I'll take your word for it on the equipment costs. I just don't see the value in the functionality of the system itself, from a user's perspective.

I don't get Twitter (X.) I don't know anyone who uses it, and nobody has ever been able to explain to me what the point of it is. I tried it out and the purpose is not clear. You can comment on stuff, but then you can't see your
own comments. You can post something, but what for? A public platform should be seamless and fun, and shouldn't have a learning curve.
