But that's not surprising when you look at the incentives provided.

We don't limit how long a person can be in politics - so we have life long
politicians.

People naturally want to do what is best for THEM, not someone else.  It used
to be that making everyone prosperous worked best.  Then the Elitists (who
never earned anything in their lives) took over.  They have the mentality of
"grabbing as much as I can because I can't make more if I lose it."

Then there's the bribes, graft, etc.
