The Elitists have been pushing against meritocracy for decades.

Unions - since they do not promote the best.
The concept of "seniority" instead of choosing the best person.
Minimum wage.
And lately, DEI.

All those things have to do with blunting the meritocracy since they promote
"something" above performance.
