Right I try to do the same. - Sometimes driving by those Golden Arches...
The game changer for me was a documentary called "What the Health?" on Netflix.
As it exposes the dirty little secret behind the ADA (American Diabetes Association and where they largely get their funding. 
The mention of diet, really freaks them out. 

Their recommendations of healthy eating choices on their website is not remotely healthy. The connection between doctors and the pharmaceutical industry was eye-opening as well. 

There are hundreds if not thousands of drug commercials all showing happy people living well - living the dream - as they try to influence the sick   w/ their elixirs and pills.  It's a revolving door that never remains still.

Did you ever notice? That non-vegans are overly concerned that you are getting enough protein?
