And something occured to me later yesterday.

Hunter's gun charges are Hunter only.  But they are still ignoring the evidence
on the laptop because that will implicate The Big Guy.

So I think we see the real reason behind Hunter's conviction: A distraction to
have us stop looking at the laptop and the evidence of crimes it represents.
