I disagree re: far right vs. far left.  IMHO, going too far to either side
is likely to get you into plenty of hate and anger.  The difference being
the anger of the left will often be portrayed as "justified" in the press.
Otherwise, either far side is hateful and difficult to get along with.

As an example, if you let a left-leaner know that, while you support the
right of someone to live as a transgender, you won't "celebrate" their
choice, OR you don't think they should compete in women's sports, OR you
don't think that books depicting sexual interactions between minors are
appropriate for elementary school kids, you will see what anger and hate
are real quick.

For that matter, I have found all I have to do is bring up Dr. Seuss.

The difference here is that when Trump was in office, many were trying to
get us to believe that his decline was far worse than it was.  Now that we
have a President who is showing that far-worse level of decline, it is
mostly ignored... at least until it gets too bad to ignore.

As for the respect outside of the US, I think it depends on where you are
looking.  China, for example, likes Biden more for sure, but I don't think
it is respect we are seeing.  Russia, Hamas, and several others certainly
don't respect Biden at all.  Israel does not appear to, either.
