Probable.  Especially when you have a Media and Education establishment
dedicated to suppressing information that they don't like.

No.  A "useful idiot" is someone who will go against their best interest to
further yours.  The people you describe are just "idiots".

Little Nikki learned his history through the Propaganda Ministry...er... 
"schools" of the USSR where they don't teach the fact that all socialist
countries collapse under their own incompetence at some point.

Hense why broadcast media is having a harder time of making it go.

I believe that there's a great deal of money being given to the "media giants"
to keep them afloat.  They simply aren't getting enough eyeballs to make it on
their old advertising model as people start tuning out.

Yet others are able to make a go at it via the small subscription model.
