That is not entirely true.

Liberia, and Myanmar (Burma), continue to officially use the
imperial system of measurement. So let's not be too hard on the
rest of the world for not holding on to tradition.

However, do keep in mind the US Congress declared the metric system
be the preferred system of weights and measures for trade and commerce
in 1988 with the Omnibus Trade and Competiveness Act amendment to the
Metric Conversion Act of 1975.

But you know how it is. Time and money got in the way, and progress
got put on hold ...

As for Fahrenheit, that is an entirely different matter.

The only countries that officially use Fahrenheit as a unit for
measuring temperature is the USA, Liberia, and the Cayman Islands.

See how that works?

Other parts of the world use both, though Celsius is the standard.

Do you think, even for a moment, that Clark Kent and Lois Lane
would do anything to betray their love for America the Beautiful?

It was not for the love of this planet, or for all its inhabitants.
After all, the alien did have enemies. And he fought them, long and
hard. But having a conscience, the alien never kills.

So what is his stated reason for being? What is his mission?
If it was not sent here to keep this planet from being destroyed,
then why was it sent here? Why not someplace else?

No other reason has ever been cited.

The other thing your mother forgot to teach you -

Superman had what appears to be an S on his suit.
And those on Earth presumed it stood for Superman.

But you know how it is.
Put on that suit and stand before a mirror.
The S inverts itself into a Z.
That is how we know his real name is Zod.
