Subj : Fidonet Policy 4 To : Gregory Deyss From : Lee Lofaso Date : Wed May 31 2023 03:07:55 Hello Greg, LL>>>> This is an international echo, where folks from around the GD> world LL>>>> are welcome to participate, in the language of their choice. GD> Maybe LL>>>> you should expand your horizons by listening to what they have GD> to LL>>>> say. Even if you don't like it, you might learn a thing or two. GD> My only so called beef was with your inaccurate statement of GD> "in the language of their choice. " That is NOT correct. My native language is Cajun French, not English. But I am not limited to writing in French. Or in English. I can do so in Spanish. Or Swahili. Or whatever other language I choose. GD>>> "You ain't nothin' but a couyon!" GD> A Cajun French term used to describe a foolish person. Nope. It means, literally, testicles. Now tell me how to say "fuck you" in ASL (American Sign Language). GD> The Internet knows all, so there no use in hiding beyond anything or anyone. Feel free to use the internet all you want. I live in Louisiana. I speak with people in Cajun French all the time. There are also some folks I converse with in ASL. One of the nice things about ASL is that over 60 percent of the signs are the same in French Sign Language. That basically makes me bilingual in two different way. I really did enjoy President Macron's visit to New Orleans, as did many others. He acknowledged us all, waving at us, and also thanking us for the fountain pen given to him, the wood coming from a street car. It is amazing how the wave of a hand means the same thing in many languages. GD>>> This coming from someone (you) who is not even nodelisted. LL>> Fidonet is not limited to sysops only. All are welcome to participate LL>> in the echo(s) of their choice. GD> 1.2.1.1 Users GD> The sysop is responsible for the actions of any user when they affect the GD> rest of FidoNet. (If a user is annoying, the sysop is annoying.) Any GD> traffic entering FidoNet via a given node, if not from the sysop, is GD> consid- GD> ered to be from a user and is the responsibility of the sysop. (See GD> section GD> 2.1.3.) One more time. Fidonet is not limited to sysops only. You are a sysop, having your own board. You are free to allow anybody and everybody to use your board. Or not to allow. It is all up to you, as it is your board. And that is the way it should be. Each sysop is lord and master of his/her own board. What could be more fair than that? Do you need a document written by anonymous to tell you that? Do you need a document at all to tell you that? Do you need anybody at all to tell you what to do? LL>> But as you know, it is not an official document of anything. LL>> Nobody knows who signed it. Or who wrote it. Or how many took LL>> part in writing it. It was also never ratified. In any zone. GD> Policy 4 is the governing document of fidonet. Like it or not. I do not recognize it as having any legitimate authority. And why should I? Nobody signed it. No zone ratified it. Only one sanctioned vote taken, in zone 2, the result uanimmous rejection. Nobody even knows who wrote it. And none came forward even to make that claim. So what makes it so special to you? GD> Perhaps this is why more Democrats get locked up more then Republicans GD> because they argue with the law. We're not talking about "the law" but a piece of cyberjunk. LL>> The only vote that ever took place in regards to P4 was at LL>> a con in Zone 2. LL>> No other vote was ever taken, in any zone, in regards to ratification. LL>> What do you say to that, Big Boy? GD> I was not the one who mentioned ratification to any degree, your the one GD> that went down that dead-end road, not me. You cited P4 as if it was "the law" - I set you straight on that subject by noting it was never ratified, and no sysop ever voted in favor of it. You cannot even tell me who wrote it, since nobody took credit. That's right. Nobody signed it. So please tell me. Who wrote it? We know who wrote the Declaration of Independence. Those who wrote it signed their own names. We know who wrote the US Constitution. Those who wrote it signed their own names. We also know which states ratified the US Consitution. Each individual state (colony) did, one at a time. So was it so difficult for those who wrote P4 to sign their names? Why the secrecy? Could be they were not even sysops ... GD> Therefore, I would say quite simply to and in regards to Policy 4 what has GD> existed before would obviously remain. Policy 4 is cyberjunk, plain and simple. Not ratified in any zone. Receiving votes from ZERO sysops. As such, it should be disregarded by all. As it already has been for years by me and others. GD> If you think that Policy 4 has no authority. I don't think. I know. So do you (if you care to admit it). GD> If I were you, and thank goodness that I am not, I would NOT go any further. Why not? The only "rule" that I know of in regards to becoming a Fidonet sysop is to demonstrate the ability to send and receive netmail. I can do that. Anytime I like. GD> It would terrible to see you crushed under something that you believe does GD> not exist. Fidonet is a community of sysops around the world - not a piece of cyberjunk. The reason for being is communication. Not just with other sysops, but also others who are also interested. This is not limited to those who speak English, as the world is a very big place, with many different peoples. GD> There has been political fighting for dominance and control, but you have no GD> dog in this fight even if it did exist in 2023. Anybody can join Fidonet. I have already told you the one and only "rule" that is said to exist. So why is there even a P4? LL>> The official language for those who wrote it might be English, GD> That was my only of point of contention with your former statement. Are you saying, or suggesting, that Bj”rn wrote it? Remember, his native language is Swedish, but he does write English quite well, given his time practicing the language. LL>> I do not see Dr. Jill and her husband splitting up any time soon. LL>> Both are very loyal to each other, and do not sleep around with others. LL>> Unlike your orange clown, who has cheated on several of his wives, and LL>> Joe would put his dogs on him. GD> Trump has ca$h to buy the best of everything, including the best dog treats GD> known to the canine kingdom. So no, they wouldn't attack as you would GD> think, they would leave Biden, just as Jill left her former husband Bill GD> Stevenson to have a affair with Biden. Golly gee, that must be the longest affair in history, as they are still at it after all these years ...
